“Music and the Melting Pot”

Members of the Hispanic American Cultural Council (New Britain) will share brief anecdotes in Spanish from their experiences as first-generation immigrants to the United States. Between stories, members will play musical selections. English translation will be provided. Ethnic refreshments will follow, with opportunities to practice Spanish or converse in English with members of the Hispanic American Cultural Council.

6th Annual Mojave Day

Traditional pottery, beadwork, music and dancing will be featured in talks and demonstrations by four Mojave tribe members from the Fort Mojave Reservation in Needles, CA and Colorado River Indian Tribe’s Reservation in Parker, AZ. They will also talk about the Mojave creation story, present-day experiences of the Mojaves, and environmental issues.   Refreshments will be served.

Voices of Peace: A Forum on Global Understanding

They will be sharing their experiences on politics, religion and perceptions of women from their discussions with religious, political, and educational leaders in Syria, Lebanon and Egypt.
