Smith & Mount Holyoke Visits

Representatives from Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges will be on campus next Tuesday, October 11, from 11:30am-1pm, to provide information on their respective non-traditional student programs for women who are at least 24 years old. The presentation will be in room 6-127/128. Interested students must sign up in the Advising Center. Faculty and staff interested can contact Kelly Pittman. Lunch will be provided.

Tunxis is hosting a mock election complete with a voting machine from the Town of Farmington. Students, faculty, and staff will be able to vote for their candidate of choice. On the ballot will be Barack Obama (Democrat), John McCain (Republican), Ralph Nader (Independent Party), and Cynthia McKinney (Green Party). Please vote early and often (actually, it’s one person, one vote).

National Depression Screening Day

Tunxis Community College invites the community to National Depression Screening Day in the Cyber Café to receive free, anonymous informational screenings for depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Participants will take a private self-test, and will have the opportunity to speak with screeners and a counselor. Referrals to treatment services will be provided, and educational information will be available. Light refreshments will be served.
