Children’s Book Author’s Illustrations at Gallery Exhibition

An exhibition of original illustrations by Bill Thomson will run March 29-April 25 in the Wallace Barnes and Barbara Hackman Franklin Art Gallery. An opening reception and book signing will be held Tuesday, March 30, 4-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Thomson’s recent work has primarily focused on children’s books, including “Chalk,” (Cavendish Children’s Books, March 1, 2010), the first book he both wrote and illustrated. He also illustrated “Karate Hour,” “Building With Dad” and “Baseball Hour,” published by Cavendish Children’s Books.

If you are thinking about applying to a nursing program at one of the Connecticut Community Colleges, attend one of the information sessions scheduled for Friday, March 25 at 10:00 a.m. or Thursday,April 14 at 5:00 p.m.  This is a great opportunity to learn about the admissions process requirements directly from the program coordinators and get your questions answered. Celebrating the Native Peoples of the Southwest

Five members from Mojave, Zuni and Taos tribes will be featured during “Celebrating the Native Peoples of the Southwest,” a free presentation on the culture, traditions, and history of the Mojave and Pueblo Indians at  Tunxis on March 2, 10-11:30 a.m. in Room 6-127. Blue corn pancakes, a traditional Pueblo meal, will be served. For more details, see the news release.
