Tunxis hosts “Helping Preschoolers Develop Empathy, Resiliency and Social Engagement Through Play” , a talk by Ann Desmore, Ed.D. on Thursday, April 14 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. Dr. Densmore will discuss the book, Your Successful Preschooler (Jossey-Bass, 2011) which she co-authored with Margaret Bauman, M.D. A speech and language consultant for more than thirty years, Densmore will address ten skills children need to become confident and socially engaged. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The Faces of Survival Exhibit will be on view at Tunxis April 14-21 in the Administration Building Main Lobby to commemorate National Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. The exhibit, on loan from Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Inc. (CONNSACS), honors 26 victims of sexual violence in Connecticut who have chosen to “break the silence” and share their experiences on the journey to survivor. Sergei Burbank is one of five published authors that will share their work at the 8th Annual Writers Festival on April 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Founders Hall. The Writers Festival brings nationally recognized writers of fiction and nonfiction to Tunxis to speak about their works and the writing process. Readings from the winners of the Connecticut Student Poetry Circuit and an open mic Poetry Slam are also featured. Participants are invited to read. All events are free and open to the public. Complimentary food and beverages will be served.
