TCC New Student Orientation

All new part-time and full-time Tunxis students are invited to a New Student Orientation on August 29, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the Parents Orientation program that day. It is very important to bring a photo identification card with you (Tunxis ID, driver’s license).
The orientation will include important information on how to be successful in college, including a Majors Fair for information on specific programs of study, the opportunity to meet with Tunxis faculty, myCommnet training, and other tips. Lunch will be provided.
Those with extenuating circumstances which prevent them from attending must notify the Orientation staff by email at

Summer Music Series 8/12-25

The community is invited to a free Summer Music Series presented by the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute August 12-25 in the courtyard at Tunxis Community College. In the event of rain, performances will be held indoors in the Tunxis Cyber Café.
• Sun., August 12, 6 p.m.—“Bach Exposed” includes a program of Violin Concerto in A-Minor, Violin Concerto in E-Major, Chaconne for Violin Solo, and much more. CT Virtuosi Summer Music Institute instructors featured in the performance include Brunilda Myftaraj, Adrian Sylveen, Katalin Viszmeg, Carlos Boltes, Melissa Morgan, Simon Polezhayev, Suzan Thomas, Scott Hill, and Gonzalo Cortes.
• Fri., August 17, 7 p.m.—CT Virtuosi Summer Music Institute student recital.
• Sat., August 18, 7 p.m.—Piano and violin performance of Beethoven and Chopin with Jolanta Reszelska, piano and Adrian Sylveen, violin.
• Thurs., August 23, 7 p.m.—Choral concert with Polonia-Paderewski Chorus and the New Britain Chorale.
• Sat., August 25, 5 p.m.—Festival Finale, with performances by CT Virtuosi’s Connecticut Lyric Opera and Youth Orchestra.

“Sunstruck” Photography Exhibition on Display Through 8/2

“Sunstruck,” an exhibition of photographs by Tunxis alumna Jess Emonds and Liz Calvi, will be on display in the Wallace Barnes and Barbara Hackman Franklin Art Gallery at Tunxis Community College in Farmington July 9-August 2. The community is invited to enjoy music and refreshments at an opening reception on July 11 from 4-6 p.m. in the Barnes-Franklin Gallery.
Emonds and Calvi currently attend University of Hartford.
