New Student Orientation

All new part-time and full-time Tunxis students are invited to a New Student Orientation on August 26 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Lunch will be provided. It is very important to bring the last four digits of your Social Security number and the post card that you were mailed.
The orientation will include important information regarding your transition to college studies, your selected major, and the opportunity to meet members of the Tunxis faculty. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend the Parents Orientation program that day.

CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and CT Lyric Opera Performances 8/10-23

The Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and Connecticut Lyric Opera will host the 4th annual Summer Music Institute & Festival at Tunxis Community College from August 8-23. For more information, visit, or call 860.944.0423.
The festival’s performances will feature a number of public concerts at Tunxis in the 600 Building Cyber Café. Free-will offering admission on performances except as noted.

Jewish Music Performance

Discover the music of Israel, klezmer, Yiddish theater, and major Jewish composers in “Music of the Jewish Soul,” a free performance and discussion with celebrated mezzo-soprano Dr. Monika Krajewska on August 6 at 7 p.m. in Tunxis Cyber Café.
A special preview of the new “History of Jewish Music” course taught by Krajewska this fall at Tunxis, the concert will feature performance and discussion of music of the ancient synagogue, the shtetl, Yiddish theater, opera and Broadway, Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein and more.

Painting Exhibition in Gallery Aug. 5- Sept. 4

The public is invited to an exhibition of paintings by Tunxis alumna Erica Field in the Wallace Barnes and Barbara Hackman Franklin Art Gallery at Tunxis Aug. 5-Sept. 4. An opening reception with refreshments will be held on Aug. 5 from 4-7 p.m.
Field recently graduated from University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School and will pursue a master’s degree at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
