At Tunxis Community College, our non-credit workshops are aimed at helping people enhance their professional skills and job performance. We call upon a network of instructors who bring years of real world experience and the latest thinking and best practices to their work. Change Your Career: Change Your Life — March 4 (F) 9:00a.m. – 12:30p.m.
Join career counselor Eleta Jones for an interactive workshop that will help you develop the next steps in your career plan. You’ll identify your interests, skills and values, create career ideas and a personalized action plan. Jones, Ph.D., LPC, brings more than 30 years of experience in career planning, retirement, job search strategies, resume writing, interviewing and salary negotiations to her practice. Diversity and the Workplace — March 11 (F) 9:00a.m. – 12:30p.m.
This half-day workshop will help managers and staff understand diversity and its role in helping organizations achieve higher levels of individual performance and team collaboration. Deanne Shapiro has more than 35 years of experience in professional development and organizational effectiveness, and has designed and delivered workforce diversity training to thousands of Connecticut state employees and others. Good grammar matters. Don’t let your grammatical lapses hurt your personal or professional reputation. Join grammar guru Carol Mon for a fun and interactive session aimed at fixing some of today’s most common grammatical mistakes. Excel — Power Tips for the Working Professional. March 15 (T); 9:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.
Under the guidance of instructor Jan Gyurko, this workshop on Excel will give you basics you never knew existed, plus tools, tips and tricks to get things done faster than ever. It’s a perfect class for the self-taught Excel user. Topics include faster data entry, filling a series, absolute references, numeric labels vs. values, paste options, creating “new from existing” workbooks and conditional formatting and more. Among the Clouds — March 31 (Th) 9:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.
Curious about saving work to the Cloud? Google Drive? Dropbox? Skydrive? This workshop will explain what these computing tools are all about. You will learn how they work and how to get started on your own cloud. Then you will be able to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations and not have to buy software for your computer. Successful Job Strategies — April 18 (M) 5:30p.m. – 8:30p.m.
Human Resources coach and counselor Helen Sneed will show you how to find job opportunities beyond CareerBuilder and Indeed.com. QuickBooks 2015 – February 29, March 3, 7, 10, 14 (M and Th) 6:00p.m. – 9:00p.m.
CPE credits available. Our QuickBooks training class covers the fundamentals of using QuickBooks 2015 to track finances of a small business. Stuents will learn how to set up a new company, work with lists, set up inventory, process invoices, work with banks accounts, process payments and enter and pay bills.
