The community is invited to events to mark International Week, held March 6-13  at Tunxis. Those events that are open to the public are noted at the end of each listing.

• March 6, 6:45-7:15 p.m., Room 211, “Cultural Experiences of Italian Immigrants,” through the eyes of their descendants, presented by members of The Prince Thomas of Savoy Club and Women’s Auxiliary. An Acapella group will sing songs of Italy. Traditional Italian cookies will be served. Open to the public.

 March 10, 11-11:30 a.m.Tunxis CourtyardParade of Nations, with children from the Early Childhood Center and TCC international students who will march dressed in their national costume. Open to Tunxis students, faculty.

 March 11, 10-11:15 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m.CafeteriaSalsa lessons with Armando González. Open to Tunxis students, faculty.

 March 11, 1:45-2:20 p.m.Room 6-127Student Forum on Culture. International students will talk about their experiences in the United States. Open to Tunxis students, faculty.

 March 12, 12-1 p.m.CafeteriaSpanish Lunch Table. The Spanish Club will host a table in the cafeteria for lunch and Spanish conversation. Open to Tunxis students, faculty.

• March 12, 12:00-1 p.m., CafeteriaFlamenco dance and guitar performance with Yohanna Escamilla and Val Ramos. Open to Tunxis students, faculty.

 March 12, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Room 201International Trivia Quiz. Students are welcome to participate in the actual contest or just observe. Student teams of three (one faculty allowed per team) will compete based on international trivia. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Call 860.773.1632. Open to Tunxis students and faculty.

March 13, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Founders Hall—”In My Shoes” performance by The Judy Dworin Performance Project. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. See details. 

• March 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m., CafeteriaInternational Pot Luck Dinner with music by Goza, a band that features Latin American, Brazilian and Spanish music. Please bring a dish that serves 6-8. Beverages provided. For Tunxis students, faculty and staff.

• March 13, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Room 6-127Talk by Leslie Bulion, author of children’s book “Fatuma’s New Cloth,” which takes place in East Africa. Bulion is the recipient of the 2003 Best Children’s Book & Children’s Africana Book Award. Open to the public.
