Sculpture and Drawings at Gallery Exhibition

CedarCluster-RedCenter2009_22x19x24“Mass as Form,” an exhibition of sculptures and drawings by Matthew Weber, will run January 26-February 18 in the Wallace Barnes and Barbara Hackman Franklin Art Gallery at Tunxis Community College. The opening reception is Wednesday, January 27, 4-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Among the 24 works on display will be a wood sculpture that was on exhibition at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Weber draws inspiration for his minimal abstractions from the New England landscape using cedar shingles, logs, shims, and other materials. His works have been on display in over 54 exhibitions since 2001, including the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, MI and the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, CT, among others. Weber is an instructor of fine arts/graphic arts at Middlesex Community College and holds an M.F.A. from the University of Connecticut.
