Tunxis Community College Foundation and Advisory Board, Inc. held an Economic Conference and networking breakfast commemorating its 45th anniversary on Nov. 12 at the Hartford Marriott Farmington.

Keynote speaker George Bodenheimer, former president and executive chairman of ESPN, addressed an audience of about 200 on “ESPN’s Strategic Advantage: Mission, Brand and Culture.” Tunxis student and veteran Nelson Algarin Jr. spoke about personal leadership and how Tunxis changed his life.

Close to $78,000 was raised which will fund student scholarships and provide emergency services and textbooks for students in need at Tunxis Community College in Farmington. Major sponsors of the event included ESPN, Stanley Black & Decker, DeLoitte, Webster Bank, Barnes Group, D’Amato Construction Company, Follett Bookstore, TRUMPF Inc., and 29 other community partners and individuals.
