Tunxis Hosts Stroke Awareness Talk

Tunxis Community College in Farmington invites the community to “Exercise and Stroke,” a free lecture on the importance of exercise for stroke prevention and rehabilitation on Friday, May 7, 1-2 p.m. in Room 6-127.

The discussion, co-sponsored by Rehab Strong, features exercise demonstrations and information on the benefits of exercise, including how it can help prevent stroke and improve daily activities after a stroke has occurred.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. It is expected that nearly 795,000 people in the United States will have a stroke this year, despite the fact that up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable, according to the National Stroke Association. Visit for more information.

No registration is required for the talk. For directions, call 860.773.1300. Tunxis is located at the junction of Routes 6 and 177.
