Tunxis Hosts Stroke Awareness Talk

Tunxis Community College in Farmington invites the community to “Exercise and Stroke,” a free lecture on the importance of exercise for stroke prevention and rehabilitation on Friday, May 7, 1-2 p.m. in Room 6-127.

The discussion, co-sponsored by Rehab Strong, features exercise demonstrations and information on the benefits of exercise, including how it can help prevent stroke and improve daily activities after a stroke has occurred.

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. It is expected that nearly 795,000 people in the United States will have a stroke this year, despite the fact that up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable, according to the National Stroke Association. Visit www.stroke.org/RISK for more information.

No registration is required for the talk. For directions, call 860.255.3500. Tunxis is located at the junction of Routes 6 and 177.
