Tunxis Community College invites the community to “Celebrate 90 Years of Women’s Suffrage,” at its Bristol facility on October 13 at 6:30 p.m., to commemorate the anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in the United States. Refreshments will be served.
“We hope it will get women excited about voting,” said Maggie Ducharme, Tunxis student services specialist and one of the event’s organizers. “It is an important way women can participate in political decision-making, which can ultimately affect their lives.”
Teresa Younger, executive director of the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, will speak about the importance of women casting their votes in the elections during the nonpartisan event.
Voter registration forms will be available at the celebration.
The event is sponsored by Tunxis Community College’s student Celebration of Womanhood Club, the Women and Girls’ Fund of the Main Street Community Foundation and the Aurora Women & Girls Foundation.
Tunxis@Bristol is located at 430 North Main Street in Bristol. For more information, call 860.255.3547 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
