Tunxis Community College in Farmington is offering “Mindfulness for Education Professionals” on Sat., April 6 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Learn how to be a model of serenity and mindful of present moment experiences. This workshop covers mindful meditation, present moment awareness, stress management, body scan, mindful communication, mindful eating and handling strong emotions. Participants will cultivate skills for refreshing themselves throughout the day, which can contribute to a more balanced personal and professional life.

Tunxis instructor Sharon Gutterman, Ph.D., teaches mindfulness practices to students, teachers, school administrators, health care and business professionals. She is an acclaimed presenter, both nationally and internationally, on helping people use mindfulness strategies to manage stress and cultivate health, balance and energy. Gutterman’s teaching is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., author and founding executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Offered through Tunxis Workforce Development & Continuing Education’s Business & Industry Services, the workshop costs $85. Those attending should bring a lunch. For more information on this and other training courses, please call Marcy Cain at 860.314.4700.
