Three Tunxis Community College students were recently chosen as winners of a Tunxis essay contest that asked writers to describe the characteristics of an ideal presidential candidate.
“I thought it would be a good way to honor the campaign season and to bring a taste of the democratic process to Tunxis students,” said Tunxis professor of history Rafaele Fierro, Ph.D, who organized the contest. “The winning essays were thoughtful and very creative.”
Entries were judged by a committee of five Tunxis faculty. The winners received cash prizes from Tunxis Community College Foundation at a collegewide meeting on November 17. They are:
First Place, $150 award, Mohammed Khadeer, of Simsbury
Second Place: $100 award, Mark Richards, of Bloomfield
Third Place: $75 award, Nora Pasco, of New Britain
