Massage Therapy Program Description
The Massage Therapy program includes topics such as Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology, hands-on techniques, Massage Theory and more. This comprehensive program prepares students to work with a wide variety of clientele in various environments. The Massage Therapy program prepares students for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
The following classes must be completed to receive a certificate and to apply for the national certification exam:
- Pathology I, II, III
- Skeletal and Muscular Anatomy of the Upper Body
- Skeletal and Muscular Anatomy of the Lower Body
- Massage Therapy 1, 2, 3
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Massage Theory and Practice
- Massage Therapy Clinical
- Special Populations
- Chair Massage
- Eastern Theory
- Business of Massage Therapy
- MBLEX Review Class (Optional)
Students who complete this program will be prepared and eligible to take the national Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). The MBLEx is governed by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). It is designed to provide a standard examination for students of massage for entry-level professional scope of practice in gaining licensure. This is the exam required to obtain a license in the state of Connecticut.
Please be advised that if you have been convicted of a felony, you may not be eligible for clinical experiences, internships, externships or certifications associated with certain allied health courses or programs. Those with previous convictions may also find it difficult to secure employment within a health care setting.
- Submit the Massage Therapy registration, requirements, and health forms
- Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
This 13-month program includes 754 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of hands-on clinical training. Classes meet four evenings per week.
Total cost for the Massage Therapy program is $9,157 (price is subject to change).

Massage Therapy is one of the fastest growing and most diverse occupations in the health care field. Employment of massage therapists is projected to grow 22% from 2016 to 2026, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Earning potential for this profession is $39,860.
