Tunxis Community College Foundation invites the public to “Beyond the Green Monster: Business Strategies for Major League Results,” with Sam Kennedy, president of Fenway Sports Management and executive vice president/chief operating officer for the Boston Red Sox, on November 10, 7:30-9 a.m. at the Hartford Marriott Farmington.

Proceeds from the fundraising breakfast will support student scholarships and special projects at Tunxis Community College, located in Farmington.

Sam Kennedy has served since 2009 as president of Fenway Sports Management (FSM), the global sports marketing and sales arm of Fenway Sports Group, owner of the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park, among other worldwide sports entertainment holdings. He has played a major role in helping FSM develop a growing client roster of leading national brands, and is involved in all aspects of FSM’s business, including brand strategies, marketing programs, and leading the agency’s sponsorship sales efforts. Kennedy also oversees the Red Sox revenue generating activities and serves as the team’s marketing liaison to Major League Baseball.

Kennedy joined the Red Sox in 2002 as vice president of corporate partnerships, and held several executive positions within the organization. Over the last nine years, Kennedy and his staff have increased sponsorship revenues by more than 250%, premium licensing revenue by 160% and the season ticket base by 30%. Revenue for the Boston Red Sox has increased by more than 12% annually, the fastest growth in Major League Baseball. Kennedy helped conceive and execute the successful sales and marketing plan for the “Legends Suite” at Fenway, the Dugout Seats innovation, and advertising positions above the Green Monster. He also secured a long-term partnership with Anheuser-Busch in 2004 that was instrumental in the creation of the new Right Field Roof seats at Fenway, and developed the sales and marketing plan for the new club seats at Fenway Park that debuted in 2006. Prior to joining the Boston Red Sox and FSM, Kennedy was executive director/corporate partnerships and broadcasting for the San Diego Padres. He attended Trinity College in Hartford, where he played baseball and earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies.
