Free tax assistance is available at Tunxis Community College in Farmington through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) on Fridays from Jan. 24-April 3, by appointment, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Tunxis Library Computer Lab. No services will be available Feb. 14 when the college is closed for a holiday.

Offered through Human Resources Agency of New Britain (HRA) of New Britain, VITA offers free tax preparation for individuals and families who earned less than $56,000 in 2019.

Tunxis business students, who are among the IRS-certified financial volunteers on campus, will help taxpayers prepare and electronically file their state and federal income tax forms at no charge. Tunxis site coordinator for the program is Tom Kandybowicz, a financial services worker for HRA, and alumnus of the Tunxis Community College business program.

All information is kept strictly confidential. For appointments, call 860.356.2000. For a map of campus, see tunxis.edu/map.

Tunxis offers more than 70 associate degrees and certificates that prepare students for transfer to four-year degrees and transition into the workforce with such programs as advanced manufacturing technology; business; computer information systems; early childhood education; engineering; criminal justice; graphic design; pathway to teaching careers; and technology.
