Tunxis Community College will offer three new non-credit workshops in January aimed at working professionals. The following are among a variety of courses offered this winter for those who want to update their skill sets.

“Sexual Harassment Awareness, Prevention and Response,” Jan. 8, 9-11:30 a.m., fulfills state and federal requirements for sexual harassment training for all supervisors and managers while helping them understand their responsibility in ensuring a mutually respectful workplace. Deanne Shapiro, who has more than 35 years of experience in professional development and organizational effectiveness, will conduct the training.

Computer Skills Workshop, Jan. 10, 17 & 24, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., is a series of three courses aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. The workshop will increase understanding of program tools and provide participants with faster and more efficient methods of accomplishing tasks. Instructor Jan Gyurko brings more than 25 years of experience as a technology and software instructor to this series.

• “Business Writing with Style & Impact,” Jan. 16, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., will focus on how to write clear, concise, action-oriented messages. The interactive session will include writing exercises, grammar tips and online editing resources. Mike Jordan-Reilly will lead the workshop. He has 30 years of corporate and journalism experience and helps clients develop content for all forms of print and electronic media.

Tunxis Community College, through its Business and Industry Services unit, provides customized training and consulting services to a wide range of private, public and not-for-profit organizations in the area.
