The Early Childhood Center of Tunxis Community College invites the public to an Open House on February 7 from 6 – 7 p.m. Parents are welcome to bring their children.

Families will take a brief tour and have opportunities for questions. Guest speaker Christina Kiley will talk about “What Makes Tunxis Early Childhood Center Different? – An Educational Specialist and Parent Perspective.”

As an educational specialist and parent of a current ECC preschool student, Kiley will speak openly about the Center’s learning environment, her family’s experience and her son’s learning outcomes this year. Kiley is currently an instructional leader and board certified behavior analyst at one of the local public schools. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Saint Joseph and in-home consultant for Creative Interventions. Prior to her current position she was a teacher in Plainville for 6 years. Kiley’s 4-year-old son attends the Center and her younger son will start in the fall.

The TCC Early Childhood Center is now accepting registrations for three- to five-year-old children. The preschool program is one of a select “high-quality” group in the nation accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). It provides full- and part-time preschool experiences in a program of excellence.

Teaching staff all hold college degrees in early childhood education. They encourage the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children through play and hands-on experiences in a safe and nurturing environment.

Full-day care is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. There are also a variety of options available for part-time enrollments. The Center is in operation September through June.
