Two visual fine art students from Tunxis Community College were chosen to exhibit their work in “Community,” a juried exhibition of top Connecticut Community College students at the University of Hartford’s Silpe Gallery, March 11-April 2.

Tracey Deming, of Avon, and Megan McCray, of New Hartford, were selected by Tunxis professor of fine arts Bill Kluba for the exhibition, and were honored at an opening reception at Hartford Art School on March 21. Deming displayed two digital art pieces, and McCray exhibited 19-by-25-inch pastel drawings.

McCray was chosen by the jury as one of three awards winners, and received a $10,000 University of Hartford, Hartford Art School portfolio scholarship renewable for four years at an awards presentation during the reception.

“Community” is the second exhibition of Connecticut Community College students at The University of Hartford Art School gallery, a collaborative initiative between Hartford Art School and the community colleges.  Each college can nominate two students for the exhibition. This is the second year that a Tunxis student has won a scholarship at the exhibition.
