Five visual fine art students from Tunxis Community College were chosen to exhibit their work in “Community 2020: Transfer Student Exhibition” a juried show of top Connecticut and Massachusetts community college students at the University of Hartford’s Donald and Linda Silpe Gallery, Feb. 20-March 12.

The students, who were among 35 CT and MA community college artists to be selected for the exhibition, were honored at an opening reception recently at University of Hartford’s Hartford Art School and are listed below with town of residence and their area of study at Tunxis.

Alexander and Coe were also chosen as winners of Hartford Art School portfolio scholarships during the reception, receiving $25,000 and $23,000 awards respectively, both renewable for three years of art studies at the university.

To enter the competition, students were required to submit 10 different works of art, an artist statement, and letter of recommendation from a college art professor. All students selected for the exhibition round were eligible to compete for scholarship awards, including full and partial tuition scholarships.

“Community” is an exhibition of 15 Connecticut and southern Massachusetts community college students at the University of Hartford’s Donald and Linda Silpe Gallery.

Located in Farmington,Tunxis offers associate degrees in graphic design, visual fine arts, and photography, and certificates in graphic design and photography; as well as 72 other degree and certificate programs.
