Children of the Early Childhood Center at Tunxis Community College in Farmington donated a total of 150 hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to the Parent & Child Center at Bristol Hospital in December.

The Center ran the drive through December 9, inviting the families, Tunxis students and staff to donate the warm items for use by children served by the Bristol program.

The children and their parents helped assemble a “tree” decorated with the items during the drive.

“It is our largest collection since we started the drive 11 years ago,” said Linda Rosado, acting director of the Early Childhood Center. “It was a great activity for the children to learn about thinking of others.”

The community is invited to enroll three- to five-year-old pre-kindergarten children in the on-campus Center program. The Tunxis program is one of a select “high-quality” group in the nation accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). It provides full- and part-time childcare in a program of excellence, offering fun and educational experiences in a nurturing environment.
