Tunxis Workforce Development and Continuing Education held a recognition ceremony recently for the first six recipients of its new, non-credit Creative Photography Certificate.

A collection of photography the students completed during the series of courses was on display during the celebration. “I was really impressed by the artistic talent of these student photographers, and hope this is just the beginning of their creative pursuits, wherever this takes them,” said Tunxis President Cathryn L. Addy, Ph.D.

The new non-credit digital photography certificate program provides students with hands-on training in photographic techniques specific to understanding DSLR camera equipment, lighting, exposure, digital workflow, and Photoshop editing. All courses are taught by professional photographers. To earn a certificate, students who completed the program submitted portfolios for review by the instructors.

From allied health and business courses to customized training, Tunxis Workforce Development and Continuing Education is one of the largest providers of non-credit courses and programs within the Connecticut Community College system, offering about 200 courses each semester that prepare learners with 21st century skills and employment in areas with industry need. Over 6,000 students enroll in continuing education and credit programs at Tunxis each semester.
