Tunxis Community College is now offering a new Energy Management program, the only degree program of its kind in Connecticut, to help the state meet demand for skilled energy analysts and technicians.

An associate degree and six certificates provide skills in measuring, analyzing and reducing commercial building energy use while helping companies comply with standards to reduce energy use. Credits from the certificates in Energy Core, HVAC Energy Analysis, HVAC Energy Controls, Energy Accounting, Energy Efficient Lighting, and Commercial Energy Auditing & Modeling can be applied toward the associate degree.

“Climate change and our need to reduce energy consumption in buildings has created new career opportunities for energy professionals,” said Eric Gribin, director of the energy management program at Tunxis.“The rapid growth of commercial energy projects will continue to create long-term demand for qualified analysts in Connecticut and throughout the region.”

Students receive hands-on experience in “living laboratories” at the College where they perform energy analysis on Tunxis campus building systems. They also complete internships with partner energy companies and receive job placement assistance upon graduating.

Classes start on August 29. To apply and learn more, please contact Eric Gribin, director of the energy management program at Tunxis, at 860.773.1318 or [email protected]. Or visit tunxis.edu/energy. Financial aid and payment plans are available for those students who qualify.
