Refund Policy

Course withdrawal may be completed by submitting a completed Withdrawal Form to the Records/Registrars Office.  Refer to each semester’s Academic Calendar for deadline dates.
The effective date of withdrawal is the date the request is received by the Registrar. If the request is received on a weekend or a legal holiday, the next business day shall be the effective day.

Winter 2022

12/29/2022 (Thu. – via email/online by 11:59pm): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.12/30/2022 (Fri. – via email/online by 3:00pm): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.After 12/30/2022 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.

Spring 2023-Full Length Semester Courses*

01/26/2023 (Thu. – via email/online by 11:59pm): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.01/27/2023-02/10/2023 (Fri. – via email and online by 3:00pm): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.After 02/10/2023 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.*Refund dates for Late Start and partial semester courses are available online as part of the academic calendar.

Summer 2022

5 Week Session 1:06/03/2022 (Fri. – by 4:00p in person or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.
06/04/2022-06/07/2022 (Tues. – by 5:00p in person, or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.
After 06/07/2022 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.

8 Week Session:06/10/2022 (Fri. – by 4:00p in person or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.
06/11/2022-06/15/2022 (Wed. – by 5:00p in person, or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.
After 06/15/2022 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.

5 Week Session 207/14/2022 (Thurs. – by 5:00p in person or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.
07/15/2022-07/18/2022 (Mon. – by 5:00p in person, or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.
After 07/19/2022 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.

Fall 2022-Full Length Semester Courses*

09/06/2022 (Tues. – by 5:00p in person, or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable.
09/07/2022-09/19/2022 (Mon. – by 5:00p in person, or by 11:59p via Web): 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee.
After 9/19/2022 there is NO REFUND of tuition and/or fees paid.

Fall & Spring Session Refunds

If notice of withdrawal is received prior to calendar day 7 of the semester, 100% of the tuition and fees paid will be refunded for both full- and part-time students. If notice of withdrawal is received between the calendar day eight and the census date, (20% of the term), 100% of the tuition and fees paid is refundable less a $50 per course late drop fee for both full- and part-time students.

No refund of tuition will be granted beyond the census date. For exceptions refer to the Tunxis College Catalog link below.

All tuition and fees are refunded if a course is canceled and a replacement class is not chosen.

Refunds are processed after the add/drop period is closed. Refunds normally take four weeks to process & are mailed directly from Hartford.

Summer and Winter Session Refunds

A full refund of the tuition and fees paid will be refunded for both full- and part-time students if an official (written) course withdrawal request is received in the Records Office (Registrar) prior to reaching 10% of the term length.

A full refund of the tuition and fees paid less a $50 per course late drop fee will be refunded for both full- and part-time students if an official (written) course withdrawal request is received in the Records Office (Registrar) after reaching 10% of the term length, but prior to reaching 20% of the term length.

NO REFUND will be given after reaching 20% of the term length, except in cases of serious illness or EXTRAORDINARY circumstances. In such cases, a refund (partial or full) may only be given until up to one-third of the classes have taken place, at the discretion of the College.
