Academic Advising

Quality academic advising is an integral part of your academic success and can enhance your educational experience. Through academic advising we seek to promote self-growth, independence, and accomplishment and do so by helping Tunxis students understand their academic major, its requirements, and by guiding students with selecting and registering for courses, as well as plan for upcoming semesters.

Non-degree students are not assigned a faculty advisor and should plan to meet with a AAC staff member to register for courses.

Transfer Advising

Tunxis students interested in transferring to another institution are encouraged to meet with the Transfer Coordinator to learn about the numerous transfer opportunities that exist. Tunxis has a variety of transfer articulation agreements with both public and private four-year colleges and universities, including the University of Connecticut and the Connecticut State University system (Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western).

Career Services

Our career services staff provide comprehensive programs, activities, and services that assist students to prepare for finding suitable employment. Through resume writing and interviewing skills workshops, job fairs, and on-campus recruitment opportunities, we help students discover their career aspirations while preparing them for employment in their field of study. In addition to on-campus career-focused events, web based self-assessment tools, such as the MBTI Personality Type Indicator and STRONG Interest Inventory, are also utilized to assist students in finding the fit between their competencies and the world of work.

Academic Advising – Degree-seeking Students

All students enrolled in degree or certificate programs will be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist in course planning and academic progress review. All students are strongly encouraged to meet with their assigned faculty advisor early in the semester. To find your assigned advisor’s name, please follow the steps below.

Non-degree students are not assigned to a faculty advisor and should make an appointment through the Academic Advising Center to discuss program requirements, course selection and academic program planning. Services include, but are not limited to, placement test interpretation, assessment of academic interests and strengths, and year-round academic schedule planning.
