Campus CEO Message

Dear Tunxis Community,

Since tomorrow, August 26 is the first day of fall semester credit classes, I want to welcome and thank you for choosing or coming back to Tunxis Community College to pursue your education. The health and safety of our students and employees remains a top priority.

I would also like to make sure that you have important information you will need to start the semester. Brief highlights of this are here:

  • All students must log into myCommNet & complete the online attestation form. A detailed email was sent to Tunxis students. Students who are seeking a medical exemption also must submit a doctor’s note to Chuck Cleary, Dean of Student Affairs, ccleary@tunxis.edu. Students seeking a non-medical exemption must also fill out this form. Please email Dean Cleary if you have questions.
  • Unvaccinated students will be required to go to weekly COVID tests on campus. Testing is expected to start on campus early September. If a student tests positive, contact tracing and all necessary steps will take place in a timely manner in conjunction with Farmington Valley Health Department (FVHD).  Fall testing hours right now are Monday 1-5:30 p.m. and Thursday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at a location on campus to be determined.
  • Masks and social distancing are required inside of Tunxis buildings.

We are in the process of updating information on our website, which includes additional information on testing, quarantine and isolation and travel, and will let you know when that important information is available.

Lastly, if your schedule includes online or LRON classes, I would also like to encourage you to find out or reacquaint yourselves with how to access classes before tomorrow.

Regardless of your educational journey, Tunxis is the right place to learn, grow, and flourish. I look forward to working with you and wish you all a very safe, productive, and successful fall semester.

Darryl Reome, Ed.D.
